Kerala Nun case: Was offered bribe of Rs 5 crores to withdraw rape case

Kochi: Days after the Kerala Nun accused a senior Roman Catholic priest of sexually abusing her between 2014 and 2016, a new statement comes from the victim who stated she was offered Rs.5 crore to withdraw her complaint against the accused.

With protests still continuing in Kerala over Nun-rape case, the Priest is likely to be summoned today after a high-level meeting is held before the Kerala High Court’s hearing tomorrow, DC reported.

According to the Police report, a relative of Franco Mulakkal and two other priests have approached the brother’s friend and conveyed the message that they are willing to pay the bribe of Rs 5 crore if the Nun withdraws her complaint.

The Kerala High Court had asked the Police officials to give a detailed report of the investigations so far.

The Nun has also approached the Vatican alleging the bishop is using “political and money power” to bury the case.

In her letter to Giambattista Diquattro, Vatican’s Apostolic Nuncio, the Nun alleged that by continuing as Jalandhar diocese bishop, Franco Mulakkal and his associates “are using the wealth of the diocese to divert” the police investigation.

However, all the allegations made by the Nun have been denied by the bishop.
