Pathanamthitta: Four boys were arrested in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala on Saturday for gang raping two schoolgirls.
The victims, who are students of class 9 and 10 at a government school in Adoor town, were kidnapped by a group of boys and then taken to Cheriazheekal village after their hands and legs were tied.
The police received the complaint for gang rape for two nights, December 4 and 5.
The matter came to light when the school authorities informed the Child Welfare Committee of Pathanamthitta. School was informed of the incident by a student who overheard the conversation between the two girls.
The committee then reported the incident to the local police station after which the police arrested the accused when the girls recognized them.
“The Child Welfare Committee gave us the information that such an incident has taken place. Based on that intelligence we took the case. We have arrested four people after investigation. Two of the accused come under the Enathu police station, so we have sent them there,” said circle inspector, M.G. Babu.
The accused who are said to be members of a sex racket are natives of nearby places namely; Karunagappally, Cheriazheekal, and Clappana. (ANI)
