Kerala: Five suspects arrested for their ISIS links

Kannur: Kerala Police has arrested two more people on Thursday for their alleged connections with ISIS.

According to the sources, three more people in the district were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged links with the ISIS making it to a total of five-person arrest in two days.

Sadanandan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kannur, said, “Three persons, Mithilaj, Abdul Razzak and Rashid, in the age group of 25 and 30, were arrested around 3.00 pm for their links with the Islamic State,” adding that, “They have been arrested based on an evidence obtained after examining their phone calls. Further interrogation is going on”.

According to the Police, the three arrested persons on Wednesday hail from Chakkarakkal and Valappattinam, Kunnur district. They left the state years ago and are suspected to reportedly receive their training in Syria. The arrested persons have recently returned from Turkey said the Police.

Around 21 people from the state are reported to have disappeared from the state under mysterious circumstances of which 17 of them hail from and Kasaragod and four from Palakkad, which includes four women and three children.
The disappeared persons are suspected to leave the state and join the Islamic State to receive terror training.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been probing these cases of disappearance.
