Kerala Cong Minister quits for Joseph to come back

Thiruvananthapuram, August 16: Kerala Public Works Department Minister Mons Joseph today resigned from the LDF cabinet to make way for induction of Kerala Congress (J) leader P J Joseph, who had been cleared of the charge of misbehaviour towards a woman on a flight three years ago. Besides Joseph, Ramachnandran Kadannapally of the Congress(S) and Jose Thettayil from Janata Dal (Gowda) faction would be inducted into the ministry tomorrow.

Mons submitted his resignation to Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan at his official residence here. Joseph was acquitted two months ago in the case of alleged misbehaviour towards a woman passenger aboard a flight from Chennai to Kochi in 2006.

Joseph, Chairman of Kerala Congress(J), resigned from the cabinet in the thick of the scam, which had sparked widespread protests. He was succeeded by T U Kuruvilla as the party”s nominee, who also had to quit within an year facing allegations of his family”s involvement in a land deal
