Kochi: At a time when the country has been shaken due to the harrowing incident happened to eight-year-old victim, Kotak Mahindra Bank in Kerala had to sack an employee on Friday after he celebrated girl’s murder on social media.
Kochi branch Assistant Manager Vishnu Nandakumar, referring to the 8-year-old girl had said on Facebook that it was “good that she was killed at this age itself. Else, she would have grown up and returned throwing bombs in India”. The post gained massive outrage in the social media and widely shared. Netizens flooded bank’s Facebook page asking for his termination.
Twitter also gained posts with hashtag #Dismiss_your_manager. The bank in a post shared on Twitter saying it had sacked Vishnu on grounds of ‘poor performance’.

“We have terminated Vishnu Nandakumar from the services of the bank on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, for poor performance. It is extremely disheartening to see such comments being made in the aftermath of such tragedy by anyone including an ex-employee. We strongly condemn this statement,” bank’s statement read.

As per a report by TOI, the security guards at the Palarivattom branch said the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) protested before the institution on Friday. “There might have been 25 people in the march – they came here, shouted slogans and returned. The Facebook post had gone viral on Thursday night and by today (Friday) morning there appeared three posters against him on the nearby tree and a wall,” one of the guards said.
NDTV quotes in its report that Vishnu comes from a family of local RSS and BJP leaders in Kerala. Following the controversy, Nandakumar deactivated his Facebook Page.
