Amritsar: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said November 1 was a “bad day” in the history of India as Sikhs were brutally killed on this day in 1984 as he mounted a scathing attack on the SAD-BJP government and the Congress.
He also attacked Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and state Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh.
Sikhs were brutally killed on this day in 1984, but Badal and his people celebrated this day on the name of Punjabi Suba anniversary where they have organised cultural programme by brining singers and dancers, he said, adding that this was a “shameful act” of the Badal government.
He also accused Amarinder of giving clean chit to Congress leaders Jagish Tylter and Sajjan Kumar for their alleged involvement in anti-Sikh riots in 1984.
Kejriwal said the Congress failed in delivering justice to the Sikh victims of the 1984 riots.
Talking to reporters after appearing before a court here in connection with a defamation case filed against him and other AAP leaders by Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, the AAP chief said the case was registered “against me to muzzle my voice”.
Slamming Majithia, he said the Punjab Minister tried to terrify him while filing the defamation case.
He said he was firm on his statement that Majithia is the kingpin of drug trade in Punjab.
“I have raised the voice of people of Punjab against drugs trade of Majithia and Badals, everybody in Punjab knows that Majithia runs drug trade in the state,” said Kejriwal.
“Majithia registered a case against me to muzzle my voice. He wants to intimidate me by registering cases but I want to tell Badals and Majithia that they can’t bend me with these means and will continue to fight for the rights of people of Punjab,” he said.
The “friendship between Badal-Captain is an open secret” now and they are “saving each other” in different cases registered against them, he said.
“Captain abuses us, Badal abuses us too. Captain and Badal don’t tell anything to each other… Captain saved Majithia from CBI, Badals’ closed case against Captain.
Majithia filed a case against me.
“Captain and Badal are jointly fighting the polls. People say that Badal is putting up hoardings of Captain using money earned from drug trade. Is it true?” Kejriwal later said in a series of tweets. .
