Good training is also the responsibility of parents, apart from taking care of their children. If parents do not teach their children Islamic values and they go astray then parents too would be responsible and accountable for that in the Hereafter. If the children become depraved due to delay in their Nikah then also the parents will be considered as their accomplice.
Our ancestors used to focus their attention on the training of their children and used to impart moral training since their childhood. Best teachers were appointed for their education and training and they were sent to principled personalities for training and reformation.
Today we neither focus our attention on the training of our children nor do we teach them good morals at home.
This is the reason that these days Muslim families confront with various ethical issues.
This doesn’t mean that we should deprive our children of modern education. There is no harm in providing education to girls too but it is the responsibility of the parents to keep tabs on them.
They should be taught to keep in mind the blessings of Hijab and importance of chastity.
While the parents should enlighten them what is good and what is bad they should also watch over their activities. They must check their mobile call history and SMS inbox and keep eye on them when they chat on internet for long hours. Parents should regularly pay visit to their children’s institution and exchange views about their performance with their teachers and school/college administration. They should also meet their friends once in a while so that they can be contacted if needed.
If parents keep eye on their children atleast to some extent then the possibility of their going off track minimizes to a great extent.
This column is being brought to an end with the hope that every individual will realise his/her responsibility in preventing Muslim society from deterioration, and mothers of today will bring up such children who will become preachers of Islam and propagate Islamic teachings.
