Keen to eliminate middlemen in fish industry: Pocharam

Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Fisheries Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Sunday strongly felt that there should be no middlemen in fish production and sale.

Speaking to mediapersons, Pocharam said the Telangana government would take adequate measures to ensure that farmers would have full rights in fish farming and sales. Stating there are 78 reservoirs and 45,000 ponds and tanks in the State, the minister said over 200 of them were convenient for fish farming. Of them only 28 fish production centers were there in the State. He also said the government would allocate Rs 11 crore for taking up repairs and construction of new fish production centres. (NSS)
