KCR’s silk saree goes missing, one suspended

Two major scams came to light last week in two temples in the state of Telangana. One in Kaleshwaram temple which is in Bhulapally district and another in Dharmapuri which is located in Jagityal. The issue of missing the saree in the fortune trove of the temple was exposed by a Telugu news channel.

Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao and his family presented saree to shobananda Devi on May 2 of 2016. A silk saree presented to Subhananda Devi by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao went missing following which Kaleshwaram former executive officer Hari Prakash on Thursday was suspended.

Endowments department ordered an enquiry a couple of days ago, though temple authorities tried to a cover it up by producing another saree before auditing officials who were investigating, However, they confirmed that the saree went missing during the tenure of Hari Prakash.

Former chairman of the temple, Juvvadi Krishna Rao, said: “The state government should suspend the EO”. The endowments commissioner transferred the EO to Warangal. New EO Saibaba took charge at Dharmapuri on Wednesday. A detailed enquiry has been ordered.

In another incident, the 6 lakh worth diamond-studded pair of bangle went missing, which was presented by an NRI to the Lord Narasimha Swamy temple in Dharmapuri in February 2016. Officials noticed that the bangles were missing and there was no mention of it in both the list and records during the temple properties and list of jewels audit.

The officials then reportedly questioned Dharmapuri temple executive officer Naini Supriya, who could not provide a satisfactory reply.
