Hyderabad, December 26: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao, has warned the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre not to test the patience of the people of the region over formation of separate Telangana State. He also declared that the movement for separate State would not stop this time even if he lost his life for the cause and deployment of any number of Central forces in the State would be of no consequence.
Releasing the Telangana Group-I Officer’s Association Dairy-2011 at the TNGOs Bhavan on Saturday, Mr Rao appealed to the Congress MLAs and MPs of the Telangana region to resign from their posts to mount pressure on the Union government if the Justice B.N. Srikrishna Committee report was not favourable to bifurcation of the State. He also said that they would be re-elected with massive majority if they resigned from their posts for the cause of separate Telangana.
Mr Chandrasekhar Rao declared that he would launch another indefinite hunger strike if necessary for achieving Telangana state. He also declared that the Central forces would not stop the Telangana agitation this time. “I want Telangana State only and the people of Telangana would not relent if separate State was carved out right now”, he said and demanded that the Central government introduce a Telangana Bill in Parliament Budget session next year.
Stating that Telangana agitation was continuing since the last 41 years, Mr KCR said that Telangana leaders were riding tigers now and not horses. He appealed to all the political parties in the region to come forward to fight for separate State unitedly.
The Congress MP from Malkajgiri, Mr Sarve Sathyanarayana, said that the Congress MPs would show their power by paralyzing Parliament during next session and wrest Telangana State. He said that President’s rule will be inevitable in the State if the Kiran Kumar Reddy was toppled. He wanted the Telangana Rashtra Samiti to merge with the Congress party for the cause of separate Telangana State. He also exuded confidence that the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, would give separate Telangana State in conformity with the Union Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram’s announcement on December 9, 2009 that process for Telangana State formation would be initiated soon. Mr Sathyanarayana said that the UPA Chairperson would not take back the gift given to the people of the Telangana region.
Referring to the Eluru MP, Mr Kavuri Sambasiva Rao’s remarks on Telangana agitation, he criticized the Seemandhra leaders by calling them as political brokers. He also charged the Seemandhra leaders with provoking the people for their vested interests. Ms Sonia Gandhi would declare Telangana State at an appropriate time before 2014 elections, he said, adding that the Congress leaders were fighting for separate Telangana State with the party high command. The people of Telangana need not worry about the Justice B.N. Srikrishna committee report as the report would be in favour of Telangana, he added.
The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman, Prof. Kodandaram, said that the dream of separate Telangana State would materialize through agitations only. He said that Telangana has a mixed culture and tradition to mingle with any one; but the people of Seemandhra never mingled with Telangana people.
The association president, Mr M. Chandrasekhar Goud, the BJP Mahila Morcha leader, Ms Vanam Jhansi, the Telangana Political JAC co-convenor, Mr Mallepally Lakshmaiah, the Telangana NGO’s JAC chairman, Mr Swamy Goud, the Telangana Gazetted Officers’ Association president, Ms Srinivas Goud, the artistes ‘Rasamayai’ Balakishan and Mr Deshapati Srinivas also spoke.
