KCR wants World Congress on IT in Hyderabad

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has agreed to the request of R Chandrashekhar, President NASSCOM and BVR Mohan Reddy, Vice Chairman NASSCOM to host the ‘World Congress on Information Technology’ (WCIT) at Hyderabad during February 2018.

The Chief Minister has been informed by the NASSCOM President, that, 2014 Conference was held in Mexico and the 2016 Conference will be held in Brazil. It was proposed during the 2014 Conference that the 2018 Conference should be held in India. Accordingly, the president has requested the Chief Minister to host the Congress in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister has also been informed that, the NASSCOM has a membership of 130 countries out of which from about 80 to 90 countries 3000 to 4000 delegates would participate in the proposed World conference to be held at Hyderabad in 2018.

The Chief Minister has suggested that a high level delegation should attend the World Congress to be held at Brazil in 2016 to understand about the modalities and other requirements. He has also suggested to IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao and IT Principal Secretary Haripreet Singh to work about housing and accommodation, dinner and lunch as well as logistics for the proposed conference to be hosted at Hyderabad. In addition they will also have followup discussions with NASSCOM representatives.

KCR has also mentioned that by the time the conference is held, the 4G technology would be made available and the Telangana State will be surplus in power. Mentioning about the New Industrial Policy, the Chief Minister said that as a very big event he would like to launch the Industrial Policy to tell everyone, that, it is no more License Raj and everything will be based on self certification. He said that applications received from the industrialists will be processed through CMO on the basis of the single window policy and any industry above Rs. 250 Crore investment, the investor need not go to any department for permissions. It is only his application which is processed through CMO that will go to the department. Finally a call goes to the investor from CMO and the CM hands over the package.

The Chief Minister suggested to the NASSCOM president that the proposed World Congress on Information Technology’ (WCIT) to be held in 2018 should be done in a superb way and the whole world must be surprised and it should be on top class international standards. He also said that, shortly 5000 acres of land will be earmarked for IT Park where there will be couple of Helipads besides residential facilities, shopping complexes, lawns etc. The IT Park itself would be a beautiful smart city.

IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao, Principal Secretary IT Haripreet Singh and Principal Secretary to CM S Narsing Rao were present when the NASSCOM president and vice president called on the Chief Minister. (INN)
