Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said the Mission Bhagiratha project was a life and death problem for the government and its works should be completed at the earliest so as to distribute water to every household by this December.
During a review meeting with his cabinet colleagues and officials at Pragathi Bhavan today, the Chief Minister said the works of the project should be completed by December this year to quench the thirst of the people across the State. “We have taken up this challenge like no other State in the country had done and it was the responsibility of the elected representatives, officials and work agencies to work round-the-clock and coordinate to meet the deadline”, KCR said. He reiterated that his benchmark remark of not seeking votes if his government failed to keep the promise of giving potable water to every household in villages wherein the women and girls are worried to collect waters from outside. To check this perennial problem, the TRS Government has taken a challenging decision and it is the time for effective coordination among the work agencies, officials and leaders.
The Government has planned to spend Rs 43,000 crore on the prestigious program which should be implemented at any cost as scheduled, KCR noted. The Chief Minister wanted completion of 100 per cent works of intake wells, water treatment plants and others from September and supply waters by December. Every household in the State should get safe water by that time, he added.
