Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today urged the Centre to sanction Rs 300 crore for providing road connectivity to people living near forest areas abutting Godavari and Pranahitha rivers and Adilabad and Karimnagar districts in Telangana.
During his meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi, the Chief Minister submitted him a memorandum seeking the release of funds for the road works through Rural Road Plan (RRP) scheme and for cabinet approval for national highways.
The Chief Minister extended thanks to Rajnath Singh for giving nod for release of Rs 1290 cr for taking up a national highway along the Godavari and Pranahitha rivers connecting Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. Stating that the national highway got all permissions, he urged the union Home Minister to take initiative for according approval of cabinet committee of financial affairs for speeding up the works.
The road works worth Rs 300 cr to be taken up under RRP include Kaleshwaram to Arjun Gutta, one km long bridge near Kaleshwaram, Racharla-Vemanapally, Somini-Gudem, Gudem- Babasagar and Sarapam in Khammam to Kautala in Adilabad.
Those who accompanied the Chief Minister in the meeting include MPs K Keshavarao, Jithender Reddy, B Vinod Kumar, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary Narsing Rao. (NSS)
