KCR Urges PM to withdraw Polavaram ordinance, give special status & package to T

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed to him to give special status to 29th State of Telangana with adequate package of funds.

During his maiden trip to New Delhi as first Chief Minister of Telangana State, KCR objected to the Centre for issuing Polavaram Ordinance for seven submersible mandals to residuary Andhra Pradesh State after bifurcation. KCR urged the Prime Minister to withdraw the Polavaram ordinance and do justice to Telagnana and protect the interests of tribals. He also discussed the issues pertaining to Telangana and funds.

After a patient hearing, the Prime Minister reportedly expressed his full support to the new State of Telangana. Other demands that were prominently discussed include steel factory at Bayyaram, national status for Pranahitha-Chevella project, new projects, 4,000 MW Power Projects and others.

Later MPs Jitender Reddy and Kadiam Srihari told the media outside Parliament House that Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended total support to T State. A memorandum about 14 issues was submitted to the Prime Minister, they said. Srihari said they have expressed discontent on Polavaram Ordinance issued by President Pranab Mukherjee. “It is totally undemocratic to issue such an ordinance without consulting the T and AP States, he added.
