The TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao has thanked the Jamaat-E-Islami Hind for extending its full support to the candidates who have resigned for the posts for the cause of Telangana and now contesting the by-elections.
The TRS chief has met representatives of the Jamaat-e- Islamic Hind and requested them to support his party’s candidates in the on-going by elections to six Assembly seats in Telangana.
Speaking after discussions with KCR, Jamaat-e- Islamic Hind AP and Odisha President Arifuddin has said that his party was supporting five TRS candidates in Telangana and Nagam Janardhana Reddy, independent in Nagar Kurnool.
KCR told the media that the Telangana political JAC has not extended support to any party in Mahabubnagar, where apart from his party’s candidate, BJP candidate was also in the fray. However, BJP has claimed that the local JAC has resolved to extend support to its candidate in Mahabubnagar.
When media representatives persistently questioned about JAC’s stand in Mahabubnagar, KCR became a little impatient. He told them to listen to him and write what he said. He said he knew what a section of the press was writing and why it was writing certain news reports. “What can I say when you write whatever you want and then question me about it” he snapped. He said though the JAC has denied having extended support to one party in Mahabubnagar, the same old news was being published. He has alleged some of the media was influenced by the Andhra media in its reporting.
Claiming that TRS candidate Ibrahim has already won, KCR said the presence of BJP was in fact helping his party. He said he has urged the Jamaat leaders to extend the support of Muslims to his party. (NSS)
