Hyderabad: After getting into an agreement with Maharashtra for the pending irrigation projects in Mumbai along with his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis, an elated Chief Minister K Chandraekhar Rao asserted that the pact will prove a boon to flourish irrigation and agriculture sectors.
“This is a historic day between Telangana and Maharashtra States as we got into a major agreement”, KCR stated invited Devendra Fadnavis to visit Hyderabad for the next board meeting and have a sumptuous Hyderabad Biryani besides mouthwatering dishes.
The two chief ministers, who signed the pact and exchanged the documents, have expressed hope that both the States would benefit from the agreement. “The cause of the statehood fight is now turning into a reality with Fadnavis’ initiative and thanks to Maharashtra Chief Minister”, KCR noted. “Now Telangana State got ample scope to draw Godavari waters after Mahaarashtra and then will let off downstream paving the way for Andhra Pradesh to use the same, the Telangana CM averred. “I had already informed my Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu that the project deal would help prevent about 2000 TMC to 4000 TMC water from going waste into the Bay of Bengal. First we are Indians and we can make use of natural resources without wasting them and use waters for our needs, irrespective of our States”, KCR further said.
Chandrasekhar Rao said, “It is indeed a great and historic deal resolving the four-decades-long controversial issue of irrigation projects with resolute decision by the Maharashtra government combined with Telangana government. We want to have friendly relations with neighboring States and the previous united AP government had failed to address the problem,” he said, adding that the infant State of Telangana would benefit from this agreement.
