Hyderabad, November 13: Lashing out at Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao for his comments on strengthening the Congress party, a section of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) today declared him a Telangana ‘Drohi’ (betrayer) and Congress agent.
Protesting the TRS chief ’s remarks that he would strengthen the Congress, the OUJAC students burnt Chandrasekhar Rao’s effigy after hurling eggs and ‘stabbing’ it at the Arts College today.
“Chandrasekhar Rao has mortgaged the Telangana movement to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. He has been saying that he had held a secret meeting with Union home minister P Chidambaram on Telangana issue. Now his agenda has come out in the open,” OUJAC leader M Bhaskar said.
The students alleged that Chandrasekhar Rao is fighting for his own political mileage and family gains. “He says ‘I Love You’ to Lagadapati (Rajagopal) while his daughter holds Batukamma on a grand scale against the wishes of the people. His agenda is clear and he is not sincere in achieving Telangana,” the JAC alleged.
Chandrasekhar Rao and his family were playing vote bank politics and cashing in on the sentiments and aspirations of the people of the region, the JAC felt. “Instead of fighting for separate Telangana, the TRS is training its guns on the TDP. Why is Chandrasekar Rao not insisting that a Bill should be introduced in Parliament immediately,” the OUJAC questioned.
The OUJAC members took Rao’s effigy, with empty liquor bottles hanging from the neck, in a procession on the campus. Later, they set it on fire.
