Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao inaugurated a three day work shop of TRS corporators at Pragati Resorts here on Monday. These Corporators have been elected to various corporations in the recently held elections.
Speaking after inaugurating the conference, KCR stressed on the need for having a green cover to overcome the problems poised by urban concrete jungles and applauded Pragati Resorts for having created a balance of 5,000 trees per person in this region as against the national average of 28 trees per person. Drawing out the comparison of plantation matrix across the globe he said the countries which have more trees will prosper well. He listed out the plants per person in various countries viz. Canada having 8,953 trees, Russia – 4,461 trees, USA – 716 trees.
“I have arranged this orientation Programme in the lap of Mother Nature at Pragati Resorts as Pragati is a unique place and a live example of Biodiversity and greenery with the mix of sacred herbal medicinal plants,” KCR said.
The Chief Minister expressed his vision to make Hyderabad a world class city, a smart city and livable city with suitable infrastructure, elimination of red tape and unwanted procedures of GHMC. Hyderabad needs strong water drainage system to overcome cloud burst thunder storms. He called upon the Corporators “sensitization of urban land use”. He stressed on the need for provision of basic amenities of public toilets, ladies toilets, vegetable markets, community Hall, Bus stops, safe drinking water and consistent power supply, provision for garbage removal and elimination of spill over debris from the corporations.
Srinivasa Chary, Director, Centre for Energy, Environment, ASCI listed out the objectives of the corporators conference – as Urban development in Indian cities and Hyderabad, Legal governance and frame work of GHMC and functional domain, Service deliveries status in Hyderabad; challenges, good practices and solutions making Hyderabad a slum free society, Resource mobilization for GHMC – Opportunities, Good practices in Urban Management. The conference will focus on the aspects of better governance; citizens participation and civic services and plans to sensitize the elected corporators on this aspect.
The corporator’s workshop has been organised by the Administrative Staff College of India in association with government officials and experts in the field towards ‘Making Hyderabad a world class and inclusive city’. The work shop being held from 11th to 13th April for 99 TRS corporators of GHMC and other corporators from Warangal, Ramagundam, Nizamabad, Khammam and Karimnagar
The inaugural session was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mohamood Ali and other cabinet ministers including K. Tarakarama Rao, T. Padma Rao, P. Mahender Reddy, N. Narsimha Reddy, T. Srinivas Yadav and Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan. (INN
