KCR slams Cong, Double Standards on BC quota

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today slammed the Congress party for playing politics on the BC reservation of 34 per cent. ‘There is no politics in our stand of giving ordinance for the panchayat polls’ he said. The opposition remarks are idiotic, he charged.

Addressing a press conference at Praghathi Bhavan, the chief minister said that there is no truth in the congress campaign as its leaders Swpana Reddy, Dasoju Shravan and others moved the court against the BC quota and against the government. This took place when the congress led alliance was fighting the Assembly polls, he said and flayed the BJP leader K Lakshman for his remarks against the BC quota ordinance. He appealed to the people to understand the opposition gimmicks for politics in this regard. Despite all such campaign, the panchayat polls will be held as planned, he said. The congress is adopting double standards as usual, and it is foolish that the opposition is staging protest.

As the High Court insisted on 50 per cent quota, we moved the Supreme Court for proportionate quota, but in vain. The Supreme Court has also refused to budge and asked the government to conduct panchayat polls as per schedule. The government, left with no other go, has issued an ordinance following the 50 per cent reservation, he clarified. Though the government wanted to hold panchayat polls before the Assembly polls, lack of clarification on BC quota stalled the process, he remarked. ‘Our stand is for proportionate representation to give more than 50 per cent reservations for the BCs with strong efforts’.

The false tactics of the congress will be exposed to the people and there is no wrong in calling them idiots. The TRS government has got the issue of BC reservations and gave council Chairman and Speaker posts to BC leaders so far, he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi being a BC leader, is not setting up MBC corporation for the BCs in the country, he added.
