Hyderabad, August 02: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president, K Chandrashekhar Rao, on Monday, lashed out at the Centre for its unhelpful attitude over the Telangana issue. He said that “it’s better to consume poison and die than to live in the present humiliating condition.” He was referring to the Centre’s refusal to pay heed to his party’s demand for a separate state of Telangana.
Rao also slammed the stubborn attitude of the State Government over the issue of conducting written examinations for recruiting police sub-inspectors. TRS and other Telangana organisations have been urging the Chief Minister to postpone the examination till Hyderabad’s status was changed from “Free Zone” to “Zone Sixth”.
They were demanding the scrapping of Clause 14F from the Presidential Orders as Hyderabad was made Free Zone for the entire State, which meant that anybody from anywhere in the State can apply for the post of sub-inspector in the city. Pro-Telangana organisations are demanding that the jobs in Hyderabad should be only for the local people. However, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has rejected the demand and said that the written examinations will be held on time this month. Rao said the Chief Minister will be responsible for the consequences if he continues to talk like that.
Rao said the agitation would be further intensified. Rallies would be organised on Tuesday and effigies of the CM and the DGP will be burnt on Wednesday. He also announced that yet another strike would be observed on August 5.
