Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today expressed shock over Mecca stampede in which some 310 died at 4 pm and some 500 Hajis injured in Meena outside the congregation place. This is second incident occurred on the first day of “Eid ul Adha” while in a similar incident of crane crash two weeks ago 11 persons died and 294 injured at Mecca.
The Chief Minister directed Muslim Minorities’ Welfare Secretary Omar Jaleel to take swift action by coordinating with Consulate officials in Jeddah and provide timely succor to the victims and families of the deceased. The Chief Minister also asked them to keep the CMO informed of the pilgrims from Hyderabad and Telangana.
According to a CMO communique, officials were asked to be in constant touch with the Foreign Affairs officials in Jeddah on the incident. The Chief Minister also asked the officials to alert the “Khadimul Ujajs” (officially deputed personnel) to assist the Hajis or pilgrims staying there for the great congregation. KCR conveyed grief at the incident and hoped a speedy recovery of those injured. (NSS)
