KCR sets deadline to resolve Free Zone issue

Hyderabad, November 17: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today set a deadline of 15 days for the state government for ensuring deletion of clause 14 F in the Presidential Ordinance which came in the way of making Hyderabad a part of Zone VI.

Addressing a news conference here today, the TRS chief wanted the chief minister to lead an all-party delegation to bring pressure on the Centre for effecting an amendment to the Presidential Order.

“It is strange that the government should announce that there were no posts in Hyderabad and therefore there was no need for any agitation. If so, then why did the government postpone the written examination?” he asked.

Earlier in the day, a delegation of Telangana Congress MPs led by G Vivek met Union home minister P Chidambaram in Delhi and urged him to act on the Assembly resolution seeking an amendment to the Presidential Order so that Hyderabad would become a part of Zone VI clearing the hurdle for holding of the SI recruitment exam.

According to Vivek, Chidambaram had told the delegation that he had already requested the chief minister to send a legal opinion. After receiving it, he would process the papers for a fresh presidential proclamation.
