Stating that Telangana State is No. 1 in the country in poultry exports, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to the Centre to keep a tab on import of chicken legs from the United States.
Inaugurating a three-day 8th Poultry Exhibition at Hitex here, the CM extended all support to the poultry industry. There is a need for promoting poultry industry in a big way as Telangana has a favorable atmosphere, he said. Stating that the government increased poultry allotments in the budget to Rs 220 crore from Rs 90 crore and 5.25 crore eggs from 3 crore eggs to ICDS centers, he appealed to Union Minister Sanjiv Kumar to keep a tab on imports of chicken legs from US.
Appealing to businessmen to invest in the poultry industry in Telangana State, he said his government will give equal priority to the poultry as it was done in the case of agriculture, he said. He also observed that Poultry Chicken and eggs are most hygienic to consume.
The Union minister said the Centre is also giving priority to the Poultry industry. The poultry industry has been witnessing a fast growth across the globe, he observed. He also said 12th five year plan has allotted Rs 2,800 crores for poultry industry. (NSS)
