Comparing municipal workers cleansing the city as gods, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today saluted them for their commitment.
Formally inaugurating the much-hyped “Swatch Hyderabad” – Swatch Telangana” on par with “Swatch Bharath” along with Governor ESL Narasimhan, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and other leaders at Hitex here on Saturday, KCR lauded the municipal sweepers for their regular clean drive. “We have to salute them for cleaning the city and making it a dirt and stash free”, KCR stated. The Chief Minister also said, “We have to recognize the services of the workers. Indeed it is our duty to help them in cleaning our own city”, KCR remarked. He exuded confidence that the clean drive with collective efforts of the people will remain a success.
KCR called upon the people to participate voluntarily to make the city clean. The Chief Minister extended thanks to Governor and Bandaru Dattatreya for their support. Dattatreya made efforts to sanction Rs 75 crore for Swatch Hyderabad program through NITI Ayog, KCR stated. He expressed concern that the historic city has a large number of people with meager facilities and amenities.
A bold step, says Guv
The Governor noted that the Swatch Hyderabad program is a bold step taken up by the State government. As part of Centre’s initiative last year of Swatch Bharath, the State government has begun the clean drive to make Hyderabad dirt and trash free. The government is coming to the doorsteps of the people and address their grievances, he added. (NSS)
