TRS Supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao today resigned to his MP seat as he is to take oath as Chief Minister of Telangana State on the Appointed Day June 2. He was elected MP from Medak and MLA from Gajwel segment in the recently held general elections.
The TRS President who is in Delhi to attend Narendra Modi’s swearing in as Prime Minister, has sent his resignation letter to the Lok Sabha Secretary General on Monday. With this, the seat is falling vacant and needs by-election within six months of time. For this, the TDP and BJP combine is likely to take a decision to rope in a suitable candidate. Similarly the Congress and CPI may together field a suitable leader in the fray for the Medak MP seat.
BJP’s Telangana State Chief G Kishen Reddy is likely to contest if the party national leadership gives its nod. The Congress is planning to rope in KCR’s arch rival Jagga Reddy to contest the poll. It may be noted that Reddy called on Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan recently and probably spoken to him on the Medak Lok Sabha seat issue. Later, he called on Telangana Congress Chief P Lakshmaiah and said that he will not switch to other parties. Lakshmaiah also stated that Jagga Reddy will not change the party. It is to be seen whether parties will take a decision on selecting their candidates for contesting this seat.(NSS)
