KCR reiterates resolve to construct houses for poor

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday reiterated his resolve to construct houses for poor people in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Addressing a meeting at Madhura Nagar of Parsigutta in connection with Swachh Hyderabad campaign, KCR said if it was not possible to get land of Osmania University, then the State Government would get 10 acres of land at Chilkalguda belonging to Indian Railways to take up housing for weaker sections. He said he would soon make a representation with the Union Minister for Railways to get the land. Stating that hundreds of people have encroached upon nalas in the city, he said that the government will remove all such encroachments and rehabilitate the poor in 2BHK flats at different places. He reiterated his commitment to provide housing for all poor persons in the city.

KCR said that the State Government got first hand information on the problems being faced by the people in slum areas and other localities through Swachh Hyderabad programme. He said all the complaints, which were received during the ‘Swachh Hyderabad’ programme would be addressed. He said it was the responsibility of all citizens to keep the city clean. Further, he said the programme would be successful if women participate in it in large numbers.

The Chief Minister said that a delegation, led by Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali, has visited Delhi and Nagpur to study the lifting and disposal of garbage in those cities. He said that the GHMC would adopt the best practices to make Hyderabad a clean and green city in the country. He said that the GHMC would emulate the Nagpur model of door-to-door collection of garbage and would do away with garbage bins.

KCR said all the households in the city would be provided with two dustbins for dry and wet garbage in the next 15 days. He said that the GHMC staff would collect the garbage directly from homes and it would be transported to the dumping yard through 2500 auto-rickshaws.
