KCR is rank opportunist, says Ponnala

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah today lashed out at Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao for his provocative remarks against the Congress leaders.
Addressing a media conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Ponnala branded KCR as a rank opportunist in politics. He also took serious exception to KCR for talking about Third Front at national level to woo minorities. However, he maintained that after the general elections, the Congress might favour an alliance with the TRS if it wants to join the alliance at the Centre. Taking a dig at the TRS chief, Ponnala said the former was intentionally distancing himself from the Congress on merger issue. “Can KCR deny that he failed to keep his promise of merging his party into the Congress if Telangana was granted statehood? Similarly, KCR swiftly got silent about his promise of making a Dalit as Telangana State CM for political gains”, he charged.
The TPCC president also criticized KCR for playing opportunist politics even after accepting a minister post in the Union Cabinet of UPA government. He faulted the TRS for declaring that it would support a non-Congress and non-BJP government at the Centre. That means the TRS is preferring to have a truck with a third front, which is a farce and opportunism.
When the Opposition parties like CPM, YSRCP, TDP, BJP created many hurdles in the way of passage of Telangana Bill in Parliament, the TRS failed to do anything. But it was the Congress that took a daring decision on Telangana statehood, Lakshmaiah said. He also alleged that the TRS was resorting to selling tickets, mislead the people and the Congress on merger issue. (NSS)
