KCR pursuing destructive policies towards farmers: Uttam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday launched the 100-day “Indiramma Rythu Bata” programme aimed at training the Congress party’s booth-level cadre on ongoing land records rectification drive taken up by the TRS Government.

Addressing hundreds of booth-level workers in Karimnagar and later at Sangareddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government has been pursuing anti-farmer policies which would destruct the entire agriculture sector. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has allowed infiltration of TRS cadre in the agriculture sector through Farmers’ Coordination Committees so as to keep the poor farmers under their control in next elections. He asked the Congress cadre to be extremely cautious to counter the loopholes in ongoing land records rectification drive.

He said that the Congress party has a history of protecting the rights of poor farmers and working for their welfare. He said the previous Congress regimes have distributed lakhs of acres of land among poor farmers. However, he alleged that the present TRS Government has been snatching away farmers’ land through all means in the name of land acquisition for different projects. He said that the present TRS regime would be remembered as Dark Era for agriculture sector, he said the wrong policies of KCR have forced over 3,500 farmers to suicide while lakhs of farmers are yet to recover from the losses incurred due to government’s negligent attitude.

He also announced that the Congress party would establish Rythu Samrakshana Samithis (Farmers’ Protection Committees) in all the villages across Telangana. He said these committees would have representatives of all opposition parties, farmers’ associations and the genuine farmers. He said these committees would protect the rights of farmers at village level.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Chief Minister had neglected the farm sector for over three years and now in view of next elections, he announced payment of Rs. 4,000 per acre input subsidy in the election year. He said KCR’s election gimmick would not please farmers and they would teach TRS party a fitting lesson in next elections. He said if KCR was sincere, then he should have implemented the scheme from this year itself and for all farmers without any pre-conditions.

Accusing KCR of cheating the poor people by not fulfilling the electoral promises, Uttam Kumar Reddy asked the Congress workers to collect applications from the eligible persons for double bed room houses and three acres of land for Dalit families. He said that the Congress party would take up those cases with the concerned authorities.  The TPCC chief said that the Congress party would organise flag hoisting programme in all village on November 19 to mark the centenary birth anniversary celebration of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Similarly, he said a massive public meeting is being planned on Congress party’s Formation Day on December 28. He said the meeting would be addressed by either Congress president Sonia Gandhi or Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that KCR has cheated all sections of the society in Telangana. He said attacks on Dalits, Tribals and women were carried out under KCR Govt by the police itself. He said KCR has created a sense of fear among those who oppose his wrong policies. He said Muslim community was cheated in the name of 12% reservation.

The TPCC chief also slammed TRS Govt for distributing sub-standard quality sarees to poor women on the occasion of Bathukamma festival. He said by criticising the women who refused to take those sarees, some TRS leaders have insulted poor women and hurt their self-respect.

Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress party would return to power in 2019 elections and it would undo all the injustice being done by the present TRS Government.

The meetings were also addressed AICC Secretary R.C. Khuntia, AICC SC Cell Chairman K. Raju, Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy, TPCC Vice-President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other senior leaders. (NSS)
