KCR proposes new Convention Centre at NTR Stadium

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has promised to construct a new convention centre in Hyderabad on the lines of HICC in Madhapur.

Addressing a review meeting of Roads & Buildings Department at his camp office on Monday, the Chief Minsiter said that the new convention centre would be constructed at NTR Grounds. He said that the proposed Kala Bharathi Culture Centre should be converted into a full-fledged convention Centre. Further, he said officials residences for Chief Minister, Assembly Speaker, Council Chairman and Chief Secretary would be constructed in the next one year. Further, he said offices for all MLAs would also be constructed soon. He directed the R&B officials to prepare detailed proposals for the same. New quarters for IAS officials too have been proposed.

The review meeting was attended by Advisor to Govt (R&B) B.R. Reddy, Principal Secretary Sunil Sharma, Finance Secretaries Rama Krishna Rao and Shiva Shankar, I&PR Commissioner Navin Mittal and other officials.

The Chief Minister took several decisions during the review meeting and directed the officials to implement them on war-footing basis. He also constituted a six-member team, led by Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, which would finalise the proposals for various constructions. He announced that the contractors who complete the works within the stipulated period would be given 1.5% incentive by the State Government.

KCR said that the State Government would connect Mandal Headquarters with District Headquarters through 2-lane roads. Similarly, the District Headquarters would be connected with the capital Hyderabad through a 4-lane road. He asked officials to pay equal attention to the construction of all roads. (INN)
