KCR praising Sonia raises many eyebrows

Hyderabad, October 09: When Telangan Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao broke his silence yesterday after the demise of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and heaped praises on UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the TRS cadre and leaders were in state of confusion. Some of them felt that Chandrasekhar Rao crossed the limits set by the party’s Politburo when he openly praised Sonia Gandhi.

Following the debacle faced by the TRS in the general elections and the subsequent developments in which many TRS legislators and MPs like Vijayashanti have decided to extend support to the Congress, the TRS leadership had initiated several measures to stop the exodus.

They included, constituting party’s Politburo and resolving that all decisions should be taken collectively in the Politburo.

Quite contrary to the decision, Chandrasekhar Rao held a media conference in Delhi and showered praises on Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister K Rosaiah. It has taken many by suprise in the party.

How could a man who described Vijayashanti and others as `Telangana betrayers’ when they were moving close to the then Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy, could take a U-turn and say all good things about the Congress leaders? This was the question uppermost in the minds of many TRS leaders.

Moreover after the elections the TRS had taken a decision not to forge any alliance with any political party.
