KCR praises Modi on NITI Ayog; All-party team to Delhi for funds

Emphasizing the need for pressing the Centre for more funds through NITI Aayog and to achieve States rights, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today informed the Council that he will lead an all-party delegation to the national capital soon.
Participating in the debate on Budget during question hour, the Chief Minister alleged that previous Planning Commission has been treating the chief ministers as beggars when they sought funds for the States. A meeting of MLAs, MLCs will be called soon to take a final call on leading a delegation to Delhi, he said.
Now that the BJP at the helm of affairs and with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming up with innovative idea of NITI Ayog replacing the decades long Planning Commission to strengthen the states to take up their own schemes and programs he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come out with an innovative program of that will sure prove handy to the states to be on growth trajectory.
He said that the Centre will find the states as inefficient if failed to spend allotted funds, while some funds were misused by some states. Being the member of NITI Aayog, I appealed to Modi to give free hand to the states to spend funds as per their requirements besides seeking a relaxation in norms of Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) norms to take more loans he said. Through FRBM guidelines the state can take Rs 6.500 cr loans while the 14th finance commission has allotted Rs14,000 cr to the state which will get Rs 3,000 cr more in near future he said. We need to fight together to achieve our rights he said adding that the delegation will meet Narendra Modi, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Aravind Panagaria, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in this regard he said. KCR appreciated NITI Aayog Scheme that will offer a free hand to the states to spend allocated funds to the choicest schemes of their own.(NSS)
