The afforestation drive Harithaharam was launched by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Chotuppal in Nalgonda district on Friday.
The Chief Minister planted a sapling at the Market Yard to launch the programme. Earlier, the CM was accorded a rousing welcome and he later addressed a public meeting. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a new godown in the market yard premises.
Speaking to media persons, IT minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that the plantation drive is aimed at increasing the forest cover in the State and also to ward off global warming. He noted that the programmes introduced by the government such as Mission Bhagiratha were yielding good results and so will the Harithaharam. (INN)
