KCR pats City Police for bagging National E-Governance Gold Award for HawkEye

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao today congratulated the Hyderabad City and Telangana State Police for achieving National eGovernance Gold Award from the Union Ministry of Administrative Reforms.

The Chief Minister said, “We are proud of Telangana Police for their use of digital technologies and information communication technology to enhance quality of service to citizens and performance of duty in maintaining public safety and security through persistent efforts in maintaining law and order in the State.

           

The Hyderabad City Police is the only one in the country among all the Recipients of Awards in National eGovernance Awards this year. Out of 261 nominations from across all Government Organizations, both State and Central in 12 categories, 20 initiatives have been finally selected for the awards. Hyderabad City Police  HawkEye was one among them. 

Visakhapatnam: “It’s a victory for the people of Hyderabad and Telangana Police’’, said Hyderabad City Police Commissioner M. Mahendar Reddy, who arrived here to receive the 20 National E-Governance Gold Award for the Citizen Empowering Mobile App – HawkEye, which has become immensely popular and has won several national and international awards ever since its launch on  December 31, 2014.

           

HawkEye has become successful in empowering the community to become Citizen Police. The Ministry of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances of the Government of India has recognized the impact and outreach of this app in the community. At a two-day National Convention titled “Transforming India” held at Vishakhapatnam, the Ministry conferred the National Gold Award for Hyderabad Police Mobile IT Application HawkEye. It is the only Police IT Initiative in the country that was recognized by the Government of India from among the 261 contenders in 12 different categories in its latest round of Awards for the year 2016 under the category ‘’Innovative Use of Mobile Technology in e-governance”. The Award comprises of a Citation, a Memento and cash of Rs 2 lakh.

Mahendar Reddy received the Gold Award from P.P.Chowdary, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Law and Justice. The Citation of the Gold Award reads “ This Award seeks to recognize the exemplary projects that have used mobile technology in e-governance in an innovative and effective way which resulted in delivering enhanced value to its beneficiaries”. By integrating various communication tools of the police department, HawkEye application served as a master tool for improving the operational efficiency of the police and in enhancing the collaboration between public and police, particularly for establishing a safe and smart Hyderabad City.

           

Hyderabad City Police has been using a lot of IT enabled technologies, as a force multiplier, in crime prevention, crime detection, public order management, traffic management, women and child safety, surveillance over criminals, work force management etc., This has led to considerable reduction in serious crimes affecting public safety and security. The Hyderabad City Police has been working in partnership with the members of the public in popularising technologies in enhancing the standards of safety and security in Hyderabad City.

           

The Commissioner of Police congratulated the Technology Team behind the App. The CP said that the Award is dedicated to the people of Hyderabad City for their significant contribution towards a safer society.

            Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma has congratulated the Technology Team of the Hyderabad City Police for winning the coveted award and bringing laurels to the State Police at the national level. (NSS)
