Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today paid rich tributes to former President of India and a noted missile man APJ Abdul Kalam.
Moving a condolence motion in the State Assembly Monsoon session that began on Wednesday, the Chief minister once again requested the Centre that the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad be named after Kalam in recognition of his yeomen services to the nation in defence sector and space research. The Centre has to take a call on this, he said adding that he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. KCR stated that Kalam who was born into a poor family, rose to become a space scientist and the president of India. He took the nation to greater heights and his death was a great loss to space Science and the country. Till he breathed his last, Kalam was actively involved with the youth to ignite their minds, the chief minister noted. Kalam had a great bond and affinity with Hyderabad during his stint as DRDO Chief and was the source of inspiration to all, the leader of the house stated. His end came when he was addressing an IIM session at Shillong, KCR recalled. Youth has to emulate him, he said.
Finance Minister E Rajender said that Kalam’s death was a great loss to the nation. Congress leader K Jana Reddy said that Kalam was inspirational and the youth should emulate him. TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao said the death of Abdul Kalam had shocked the Nation. BJP Floor leader Dr K Lakshman noted that Kalam was a great human being and a driving source to the youth. MIM leader Pasha Quadri said that Abdul Kalam, even as President of the Nation, had led a simple life and through his life, he had given a direction to the Nation.
Payam Venkateswarlu, Sunnam Rajaiah, Srinivas Yadav, G Kishan Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka were among those who paid tributes to Abdul Kalam. (NSS)
