Accusing the TRS Government of doing injustice with all communities in the State, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday said that only Congress party could ensure social justice.
Addressing a massive public meeting at Tandur as part of 126th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was cheating all the communities in the name of increase in their reservation percentage. Stating that the Congress party has extended full support to the Reservation Bill which provides for increase in reservation percentage for Muslims and STs, he said KCR was silent when Congress asked him about their implementation. He said that the Chief Minister did not answer when Congress asked him whether he would not seek votes from Muslims in next elections if he fails to implement 12% quota. He said KCR’s silence clearly showed his lack of commitment. Similarly, he said that the TRS Government delayed increase in ST quota although it had no legal complications.
Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the government increase the reservation to 50% for Backward Classes and enhance quota for Scheduled Castes to 16%. He said that the reservation for all communities should be proportionate to their population. He said that the TRS Government delayed the revision of reservation percentage by almost three years and asked KCR to apologise for the same.
Without naming KCR’s community, Uttam Kumar Reddy said while the Chief Minister has been talking about giving reservation to all communities in proportionate to their population, one community having less than one per cent of total population was ruling the Telangana State. He said women, who constitute nearly 50% of the total population in the State, have no representation in the State Cabinet.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also announced that Congress party would waive off crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take if it comes to power in 2019 elections. He also promised that it would add one more room to Indiramma houses for weaker sections. He also assured jobs for all educated youth and said that the Congress Government would provide stipend to all jobless youth until they get jobs.
The TPCC chief alleged that the Chief Minister and his family members were cheating the common people with their political stunts. Ridiculing the concept of ‘Gulabi Coolie’ campaign being run by the TRS leaders to raise money for their public meeting, he said whether a common man or labourer would earn Rs. 7 lakh by selling ice creams as was done by KTR. Similarly, he said Nizamabad MP Kavitha, minister Harish Rao and other leaders have been cheating the people with their claims of earning lakhs of rupees by selling tea or other products.
Addressing the meeting earlier, Congress floor leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge described KCR and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as two sides of the same coin and accused them of cheating the people. He said it was Congress party which gave Telangana. However, he said that the new State went into the hands of a single family.
AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh stressed on the revival of ideology practised by Dr. Ambedkar. He said that the present BJP Government at the Centre and TRS Government in Telangana State were anti-Dalit and anti-minorities.
The meeting was also addressed by other senior leaders including S. Jaipal Reddy, K. Jana Reddy, Jaipal Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and others. (INN)
