Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday appointed Singireddy Niranjan Reddy as the Vice-Chairman of Telangana Planning Commission.
Singireddy hails from Mahabubnagar district and had lost last Assembly elections from Wanaparthy seat against Congress leader Dr G Chinna Reddy. He played an active role during the Telangana statehood movement and is considered a master strategist. The Commission, to be headed by the Chief Minister, is expected to play a vital role on the lines of Planning Commission of India. Therefore, in view of Singireddy’s experience and seniority, the Chief Minister appointed him as his deputy in the commission. (INN)
