Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has stated that Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, K Chandrashekar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu respectively, were equally corrupt and dishonest.
Addressing a meeting, organised to felicitate newly elected MLC Akula Lalitha, at Nizamabad on Thursday, Shabbir Ali both the Chief Ministers were focused on disruptive politics than concentrating on welfare of people. While Naidu encouraged defections in other parties to lure 2 MPs, 7 MLAs and 9 MLCs, his Telangana counterpart lured 13 MLAs and 13 MLCs from other opposition parties. Although both TDP and TRS got clear mandate in the last elections, they are indulging in horse trading of legislators through undemocratic and corrupt means, he said.
Shabbir Ali said no section of the society was happy with the performance of TRS Government. The farmers and students were the worst hit during KCR Rule. The farmers suffered extensive damage in the last Khariff and Rabi seasons due to erratic power supply, drought and later unseasonal rains. “The State Government should have taken measures to ensure that the farmers recover their losses in the ongoing Khariff season. However, the farm sector has been completely ignored and farmers have been left to their fate. Telangana is an agrarian State and almost 70% population depends on agriculture. But KCR is more interested in politics than attending to the needs of farmers,” he said.
Similarly, the TRS Government, which promised to provide free KG to PG education, has neglected the students’ community. “While one academic year has passed, another has begun with no clarity on when KG to PG free education policy will be implemented. There are no Vice-Chancellors in State Universities and the government has stopped releasing adequate funds for them. Despite beginning of EAMCET counseling, there is no clarity on number of engineering colleges in the State. The students and their parents are worried about the future ,” he said
Shabbir Ali appealed to the Congress workers to fight for the cause of farmers across Telangana State. He asked them to instill confidence among farmers that the Congress party would support them in their crisis. He also appealed to the people to strengthen the Congress party and its leadership in Telangana. “AICC President Sonia Gandhi gave Telangana in view of sacrifices made by the martyrs, students and the common people. You must strengthen the Congress party to ensure that the real objective of formation of Telangana is achieved,” he said. (INN)
