KCR meets PC, seeks withdrawal of cases against students

New Delhi, August 26: Home Minister P Chidambaram today assured TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao that he will request Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah to withdraw cases against thousands of students, which were filed during last year’s pro-Telangana agitation.

Rao met Chidambaram at his office in North Block here and rued that cases against students have not been withdrawn even nine months after his appeal to the state government to drop those cases.

“I requested Chidambaram that the cases against over 5000 students who were part of the pro-Telangana agitation in 2009 should be withdrawn immediately,” Rao told PTI after the meeting.

Since the cases have been filed by the state government, Rao said, Chidambaram assured him that he will speak to Rosaiah “tonight and request him to initiate the process” of withdrawing the cases.
