KCR launches ambitious ‘Mission Kakatiya’

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday expressed confidence of reviving over 46,000 lakes and tanks spread across Telangana State through the Mission Kakatiya.

Speaking after launching the prestigious project at Sadashivanagar of Nizamabad district, the Chief Minister assured that the Rs 25,000-crore ‘Mission Kakatiya’ would be executed with total transparency and commitment. He said online tenders would be called and contractors with clean record. He directed the officials to furnish details of contractors with tainted background so that they could be blacklisted. He said there would be zero tolerance to irregularities and anyone who swindles public funds would be sent to jail. He said there would be no compromise on quality of works.

KCR blamed the Seemandhra rulers of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh of damaging the chain of tanks and lakes in Telangana. He said that the Andhra rulers committed a sin of damaging the lakes while the same were spared by invading rulers. He said the chain of lakes and tanks was scientifically created by the Kakatiya Rulers and the same were strengthened by Qutub Shahi and Asaf Jahi rulers. However, Andhra rulers sabotaged everything to destroy the irrigation potential of Telangana.

The Chief Minister hoped that the successful completion of Mission Kakatiya would bring back smiles on the faces of farmers as it would ensure supply of water throughout the year. Describing the project as pious, he appealed to all citizens to support and join the project.

KCR also strongly condemned the criticism by opposition parties on his government. Making specific reference to the ‘Farman’ sent by Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir recently, he claimed that his government has taken several steps for the welfare of the people in the last nine months. However, Shabbir Ali was not acknowledging those works.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, TRS legislators, senior officials and other leaders also participated in the programme. (INN)
