KCR, Kodandaram silent fast at rajghat

New Delhi, October 02: The Telangana Rashra Samithi chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhara Rao, has said that they would not resort to violence even if the government provoked.

Mr KCR, the Telangana JAC Convener, Prof. Kodandaram, and the BJP senior leader, Mr Ch. Vidyasagar Rao observed silent fast at Rajaghat, samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, on his birth anniversary day on Sunday.

Talking to the media, the TRS supremo said that the movement was being run peacefully for the past 11 years and would continue in the same path. He said the Congress party had assured Telangana on oath in Parliament and questioned how democracy could survive, if such solemn oaths were not honored. He appealed to the government not to play with the lives of the people. He asserted that the “Sakala Janula Samme” (All people’s strike) would continue until Telangana was achieved.

Referring to the statement of the AICC leader, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, that more talks were needed, he said that it was just a gimmick for delaying solution to the problem. He angrily questioned how the Union government could talk about more discussions, when crores of people had taken to the roads and were fighting for Telangana even risking their lives. He said that the Congress party which had cheated the people several times in the past, was trying to take them for a ride once again. He said that no one would believe the sermons of Mr Azad. He said that 40 representatives would meet the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, under the leadership of Prof. Kodandaram, on Monday and explain the situation to him.
