Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday justified the changes in designs of different irrigation projects.
Addressing a meeting with officials to review Dammugudem project of Khammam district, the Chief Minister said that the State Government was changing the designs for effective utilisation of Godavari River waters. He directed the officials to submit the reports on re-designing of projects at the earliest. Further, he asked the officials to call tenders for projects on both Godavari and Krishna Rivers. He said all works on all pending projects should be speed up. He said works pertaining to a particular project should be completed in a single phase.
KCR said that the irrigation projects of Telangana were completely ignored during the united Andhra Pradesh regimes. He said inter-State disputes were deliberate created for Telangana projects. He said that the project designs were being changed to rectify the mistake committed by previous governments. He said the WAPCOS company has been assigned the work of change in design of Pranahita Chevella project and soon it would be made public.
The review meeting was attended by Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and senior officials of irrigation department. (INN)
