KCR invites President for ‘Haritha Haram’ launch on July 3

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, in a letter addressed to the President of India Mr Pranab Mukherjee, has requested him to launch the prestigious people centric programme of “Telanganaku Haritaharam” from Yadagirigutta of Nalgonda district on 3rd July.

The Chief Minister made this request inviting President mentioning that it would add more significance to this programme and will enthuse all sections of the society to actively participate.

KCR in the letter said that he is pleased to inform the President that Government of Telangana has taken up, among other flagship programmes, a massive tree plantation programme christened as “Telanganaku Haritha Haaram” with an objective of improving green cover, maintain ecological balance and to ensure sustainable livelihoods. As part of this programme, said the CM that it is proposed to plant 230 crores saplings over three years period, both within the reserve forest to improve forest density and outside the forest to promote greenery and also improve incomes for the farmers.

The Chief Minister further said that the community participation in the programme as a green movement is the highlight of this approach. For the current year 39.60 crores saplings have been raised, which are ready for planting starting first week of July this year, mentioned the Chief Minister. (INN)
