Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s VVIP tours in the State have cost the taxpayer Rs 4.92 crore in two-and-a-half months. Of the total expenditure of `4.92 crore, `1 lakh is ‘planned’ expenditure and the rest non-plan, according to the State government.
The State government on Wednesday released the amount to the APACL AP (Aviation Corporation Limited) from which aircraft had hired to ferry the VVIPs.
In the last few months, the government had to hire helicopters, mostly for aerial surveys conducted by the Chief Minister either to inspect various development works or identify lands for setting up industries and power plants.
Rao’s tours includes two to Nalgonda (for identifying lands to set up a cinema city and a thermal plant), one to Jaipur in Adilabad district (for inspecting works of a proposed thermal plant), and one to Warangal and Ranga Reddy districts each.
The Chief Minister surveyed parts of Ranga Reddy district recently as part of his plans to relocate industries for the ease of traffic congestion in the city and its surroundings as well as to increase green cover area. The Chief Minister had also been to Thrissur in Kerala recently and paid a visit to the Kerala State Forest Research Institute
