KCR govt has top priority for women’s health: Min

Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE), in association with LivLife, conducted a Walkathon for Women’s Health and Fitness here at KBR Park on Sunday.

           

Health Minister Dr Ch. Laxma Reddy, who was the chief guest, flagged off the walk. Shilpa Reddy, Fashion Designer, Brand Ambassador for COWE India; Sunitha,  Singer; Lt. Col Pranjali Dhume; Meghana Reddy, Rhythmic Gymnast and P. Neelima, Mountaineer were guests of honour and participate in the symbolic walk.

           

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Laxma Reddy said Women Health was more important. “If mother is healthy, the whole family will be healthy. The TRS government recognizes this fact and has been working accordingly to ensure women’s health gets the maximum priority. He also stressed the importance of regular screening to detect Breast and Cervical Cancer. The State government was keen on holding more Cancer Screening Camps, he informed. 

Singer Sunitha and Dr Nandakishore Dukkipati, founder of Livlife, said obesity negatively impacts the health of women in many ways. Being overweight or obese increases the relative risk of diabetes and coronary artery disease in women. Women who are obese have a higher risk of low back pain and knee osteoarthritis. LivLife Hospitals has helped thousands of patients collectively lose more than 70,000 kg of excess weight,  he informed.
