Khammam. December 03: At last the officials succeeded in administering saline to TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao forcibly in the Government Hospital in the wee hours of Wednesday. Rao was administered saline by the doctors as per the directives of the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission.
The doctors said Chandrasekar Rao’s health condition was deteriorating as he was not taking food since Sunday night.
District Collector V Usha Rani discussed with the doctors and requested Rao to let doctors administer saline and medicines.
Though he refused, the officials were successful in their efforts in the early hours. According to the doctors, Rao had been suffering from fever since Tuesday night.
Tension prevailed at the hospital and additional police forces including Greyhound teams were deployed.
Speaking to media, Rao’s son and MLA KT Rama Rao came down heavily on the police for forcibly administering saline to his father. He charged the Government with a high-level conspiracy to foil TRS chief ’s fast right from the beginning. He said that his father was put on saline when family members were not present.
He demanded that the Government should come forward with a proposal on separate Telangana.
Meanwhile, some unidentified persons burnt down camp offices of former Union minister Renuka Chowdary and former Sattupalli MLA Jalagam Venkata Rao in the early hours here.
The police registered a case.
Tension prevailed for sometime at the hospital when activists of the PDSU, New Democracy and TRS gathered at the hospital raising slogans in support of Rao’s fast. Later the police took them into custody. Meanwhile, Labour Minister Ramireddy Venkat Reddy called on Rao at the Government Area Hospital around 8 p.m Wednesday. The minister appealed to the TRS leader to give up fast.
He said that he had told Rao that the Telangana issue can be settled amicably and the issue would be taken to the notice of Sonia Gandhi if necessary.
However Rao is learnt to have remained mum over the proposal of the minister.
Later speaking to newsmen Venkat Reddy said that Rao is stable and if necessary better treatment would be provided to him.
When Ramireddy apprised Chief Minister K Rosaiah about the health and the demand of TRS leaders to shift Rao to Hyderabad, the Chief Minister is said to have informed him that a team of specialists would be sent to Khammam to provide better treatment to Rao.
