KCR gets US invitation on climate change

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao today received a rare invitation from California Governor Edmond G Brown to participate in Climate Change international meet to be held in San Francisco next June.

A delegation from California, led by Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Nisha Biswal today called on IT Minister K T Rama Rao and extended the invitation for the event “Sub Continental Clean Energy Ministerial” to deliberate on innovative plans by Clean Energy Department. Brown appreciated KCR’s initiatives of encouraging solar energy and others that are similar to the target of world nations to reduce global warming by 2 degrees Celsius by the end of 21st century.

The team also shared its view of doing business in potential sectors, skill development training and evinced keen interest in working together to face challenges like low rainfall and reduction in green cover. Bishwal suggested to work with industry heads and offer skill development training and promised to work with T Hub in California along with I Hub. She also said that industry bigwigs in the US are appreciating the Telangana government’s initiatives to boost industries, IT and other sectors.

KTR said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other States gave a pat to the new industrial policy of the Telangana government which offers all permissions in just two weeks. It is pertinent to say that KCR initiative of Haritha Haram program to plant 120 crore saplings over five years is what meant for massive afforestation program that will ultimately extend green cover above 33 per cent to root out drought by bringing rains.
