As promised TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao returned to Telangana after achieving statehood from the national capital here on Wednesday. KCR arrived a few hours late at Shamshabad Airport and from there heli-hopped to Begumpet.
He got a rousing reception by Telangana protagonists, who in large numbers accompanied him to Martyrs’ Memorial en route Begumpet, Rajbhavan, Khairatabad and Lakdi ka pul.
Flanked by party leaders K Kesava Rao, MPs Vivek, M Jagannatham and Nayani Narasimha Reddy, a jubilant KCR got blessings of priests with Purna Kumbham. Thousands of people thronged to Gun Park from 10 Telangana districts and danced to T numbers in gusto. All along the stretch Jai Telangana slogans rented the air, while Gun Park before the Assembly echoed with sounds while crackers fired in euphoria gave rise to multi colors in the sky. Other highlights on the occasion were Telangana culture of Bonalu, Bathukamma and other art forms added color to the “Victory Rally” which painted the twin cities “rose”.
It may be noted that the TRS Chief stated that he will return to Hyderabad only after Parliament passing T bill. And he did so. Police found it tough to control traffic on the occasion. When KCR left Hyderabad three weeks ago to attend the last session of the 15th Lok Sabha in Delhi, he told his supporters that he was leaving Andhra Pradesh, but would return to Telangana. He returned to a hero’s welcome today; Telangana is poised to be India’s 29th state. (NSS)
