KCR to finalise site for new Cinema City today

Despite the possible road blocks, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao appears keen in establishing Cinema City in Rachakonda of Ranga Reddy district and will undertake an aerial survey on Monday to finalise the site.

Ministers P Mahender Reddy and G Jagadish Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma and a few personalities from the film industry will accompany the Chief Minister during his aerial survey.

The Ranga Reddy district administration has reportedly identified nearly 2,000 acres of land for the proposed Cinema City. However, the proposal is likely to face several obstacles as most of the land falls under notified forests and would need clearance from the Central Government. In Samsthan Narayanpur mandal of Rachakonda, nearly 9,000 acres is forest land. Further, the Rachakonda Hills also have 2,200 acres of patta land and 2,000 acres of assigned/ceiling land. Only 600 acres in the area is government land while vacant hillocks are spread across 400 acres.

Sources say that the finalisation of stretch of 2,000 acres of land for the Cinema City project would be an herculean task for the government. However, the Chief Minister looks firm in starting the project in Rachakonda, primarily due to its location and proximity to the State capital of Hyderabad. (INN)
