Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday presented a cheque of Rs. 5 Crore to Olympic Silver Medalist PV Sindhu. He also presented a cheque of Rs. 1 crore to coach Pullella Gopichand.
Sindhu and Gopichand, along with their family members, called on the Chief Minister at his camp office on Tuesday evening. Speaking on the occasion, KCR said that the State Government would introduce a new Sports Policy to encourage young players like Sindhu. He said he would convene a meeting with eminent players, trainers and Sports Associations to discuss the proposed policy.
The Chief Minister said stadia would be constructed in all districts. He said 300 acres of land in Hakimpet would be utilised for promotion of sports’ activities. He said Hyderabad would be promoted as a Sports Hub.
KCR also announced a cash reward of Rs. 25 lakh to Sindhu’s physio-therapist C. Kiran. He said Rs. 25 lakh reward would also be given to badminton player Kidambi Srikanth for his good performance. (INN)
