Hyderabad: Congress MLC Mohammed Ali Shabbir today said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has been uttering lies and fooling the people and demoralizing the Opposition parties by taking a U turn on the BC Reservation issue.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Shabbir said as per Gram Panchyat Act enacted by the Telangana Government, 34% reservation was provided to BCs in Assembly. He also said KCR assured 33% quota for BCs, 12% each to Muslims and STs, but issued a GO of 22.8% only to BCs for the gram panchayats polls slated this month.
Previously, the Congress had implemented 34% reservation to BCs in GP elections held in 2013, by getting stay from Supreme Court. He asked why KCR government did not approach the Supreme Court for BC reservation and silently brought the ordnance closing reservation to 50% cap to all. Shabbir Ali demanded that the Chief Minister give a clarification on BC quota issue instead of blaming the Congress and the BJP.
